Community Minibus Hire & Social Scheme

Social Value Scheme

Social value has been a fundamental part of our responsibilities over the past 12 months, and this year we want to achieve even more! Voluntary and Community organisations (VCSE) will be an integral part of our social engagement strategy, providing us with the intelligence to think and do things differently. Our focus on community development and social justice drives us to support a wide range of local initiatives, ensuring our services reach those who need them most.

Westfield Minibuses is always giving back to the communities we serve. See below for just a couple of the gestures Westfield has made to support local causes and enhance community-based services.

Wellspring Hamper Deliveries

Once again, Westfield Minibuses have proven themselves to be true community champions by providing the means of transporting pupils and donations to the Wellspring in Stockport.

For more than 30 years, Harrytown High School has collected for the Wellspring during Advent. During the pandemic, the school provided more than 70 hampers for families who were struggling, and Westfield stepped in to help deliver these across Stockport.

This year, Westfield generously provided two minibuses to transport more than 30 large boxes of donations to the Wellspring to support their daily efforts for their clients. These donations have been generously provided by families, pupils, and members of the extended school community.

Cherry Tree Project Donation

Westfield Minibuses are a big supporter of all things great in Stockport!

As we specialise in home-to-school transport for children across Greater Manchester, we always love to do anything we can to help our local communities and projects in and around the Stockport and Manchester borough!

Just last week (17/07/23) we had our fantastic driver, Ryan go to meet the staff at the Cherry Tree Project and give a generous donation to them.

The food in the trolleys pictured was dropped off at the Cherry Tree Project on Monday. Rachel Bresnahan, who runs the project, also leads the Council Food Network to support getting food to voluntary and community groups to then deliver to service users in need.

COMMUNITY MINIBUS HIRE

Minibus Hire for Community Groups, Charities, Schools, and Colleges

We run a minibus hire service (with driver) specially aimed at voluntary organisations, sports clubs, community or faith groups, schools, and charities, etc., based in Stockport & Manchester. Our minibuses can seat up to 16 people, and our smallest is an 8-seater minibus. However, the option for a saloon or MPV is also available.

Hiring a minibus through us can be so much easier for your group than the expense and hassle of maintaining a vehicle which may not be used that often. We provide a driver.

All our friendly drivers are fully trained, DBS checked, and will always make sure passengers are well looked after throughout each trip. Alternatively, you can nominate a driver from your previous booking with us to ensure you're always comfortable.

BUSSY McBUSFACE

Autism and Our Mission

BUSSY McBUSFACE is a unique sensory initiative that is totally funded by Westfield Minibuses.

The project provides schools, nursing homes, children’s centres, and community groups across Stockport & Manchester the opportunity to access, enjoy, and gain real benefit from sensory resources and facilities.

BUSSY McBUSFACE's external look was designed by Bob Marsh from Lisbon School in Stockport, and we thank Bob for making this design so amazing.

We organised a competition with several SEN schools to get the best design, but also made sure that the community got their input on our Bussy!

Bussy McBusface delivers sensory support to people and places that are difficult to reach, helping to remove the financial and geographical barriers often involved in accessing services in fixed places.

More About Bussy McBusface

Bussy travels around locally working with pupils with special educational needs, disabilities, and other conditions, and with nursing homes visiting the frail and elderly, including those with dementia.

The spectacular sensory room on the bus transforms into a different theme at the touch of a button. We use coloured lights, sounds, projectors, and a variety of sensory items to create immersive environments that are both fascinating and educational for the user. Perhaps they will enter a wondrous undersea world, or an atmospheric jungle. Or perhaps they’ll find themselves in an extraordinary English country garden, with lots of sights, sounds, and textures to explore.

One of the biggest benefits of the bus is that it is a truly flexible service. The room can be adapted and customised according to the needs of the users; we can make it a calm and relaxing environment or a stimulating interactive space.

If you would like the bus to visit your school, care centre, or community group, and those supporting them, please get in touch. Visits will give plenty of time for users to get maximum enjoyment out of the experience. It’s also ample time for parents/carers/teachers and support staff to gather ideas on how to continue bringing a sensory experience to their setting after Bussy has gone.
